Tae Wang Sa Shin Gi Episode 12
Episode 12 had a lot of dialogue and just one action scene of note as they seek to save all the action for episode 13.
We did have an action scene that was a cliffhanger from the previous episode as Damdeok battled Jumochi for his assistance in his army. This was all thanks to Dalbi, the pretty girl whose husband got killed by Hwachun minions in the jailbreak. Damdeok was severely outclassed by Jumochi skill with the axe. But he got a lucky break as he saved his and Jumochi from getting hit by sword debris. Jumochi stops the fight and agrees to fight for Damdeok on his own conditions which was quite a lot. But still no sign of the White Tiger sacred symbol? Hmm… I wonder how will the sacred symbol awake?
Then a familiar scene from the past as Damdeok summons Ho Gae for a talk. They think about the past when they were both on much happier terms when they were kids. Now they are rivals. Ho Gae wants to go to war with Baekje to find the sacred symbol but Damdeok opposes because it would mean Goguyreo men dying in their personal battle to be king. Ho Gae refuses to cede ground and Damdeok lets it go knowing its futile.
Then its the council meeting as Ho Gae announces his decision to go to war with Baekje and seeks approval from Damdeok. Damdeok questions his reasons and Ho Gae gives his reason as revenge against Baekje for killing one of their past kings and also to search for the sacred symbol. Damdeok questions his tactics that would ensure definite victory and Ho Gae shoots back by saying his 40k soldiers would fight with their heart and soul. One of the tribe leaders opposed to Damdeok then questions Damdeok asking if he is scared? This leads to a free-for-all as everyone starts bickering and all you see is discord between every member on the council.
Damdeok sees Sujini drinking by herself and comes over to join her. Sujini then confronts him about his feelings for Kiha and he rebukes her for bringing her up since he still can’t face the fact that she “betrayed” his feelings.
Poor Sujini as she was tearing at the end of her “conversation/argument” with Damdeok and he saw her tearing! He seemed to look not only pained from hearing again about Kiha’s “betrayal” but also knowing that Sujini’s tearing over him. Yet another sign of his growing affection towards Sujini?!
Meanwhile, Damdeok holds council with his advisors and announces that he will support Ho Gae’s decision to go to war. But he concedes that he would use delaying tactics to assist Ho Gae in winning since they are fighting for Goguyreo and Ho Gae’s men are also his people. Plus the delaying tactic is to make sure Ho Gae does win as he would use his own troops to delay West Baekje assistance. Everyone is dumbfounded by his decision.
Then we are at Ba Son’s blacksmith as she shows off her newly-made arrows which are superior to the ones she made before. Sujini questions why didn’t she make it in the past since she already knew how to? Ba Son reply was that these are made to kill people and there was no reason for her to make it until now since she has met a king who is capable of using them.
Another interesting thing was that Dalbi gives Sujini a book where she had did calculations regarding how much food a soldlier would need for X number of months. She did this often for Yeon’s family after Ho Gae mother had died apparently. And naturally she would become an important part of Damdeok’s army I guess.
Kiha is awake and makes a startling relevation.
It has become easier for me to handle fire.
I don’t have to make an effort anymore.
But it’s strange…I can make fire,
but I cannot put it out…
Why can’t I put it out?
Another tease to blur the real owner of the heart of Jujak power? Could there be a possibility that Kiha could be the Dark Phoenix as well and is she the reincarnation of Dark Phoenix instead of Sujini? Maybe their destinies were swapped in this lifetime? Well we have to watch on…
Another moment between Damdeok and Sujini as she brings him a jar of wine from the royal winery and cheers him up with her antics. Their romance is certainly going strong. And more importantly, Kiha had sneaked out and was just outside looking at all this. She wanted to clarify things with him but after seeing Damdeok having a great time and laughing, she felt a bit betrayed and jealous since he never did that with her. She goes away feeling bitter.
Damdeok puts out a small group carrying a fake sacred symbol heading towards West Baekje and this fools Dae Jang Ryo who tells Lord Yeon that they must follow that trail to hunt down that symbol. Then we see Damdeok allowing the Gae Ma Iron Warriors to follow Ho Gae into battle. But they must be at the forefront and Kiha will follow them plus no war can begin without them. Ho Gae is peeved at this but agrees to it. Damdeok’s delaying tactics are working well as we build to the battle scenes in the next episode.
