Gospel Reflections

January 28: Wednesday Mark 4:1-20

Jesus gives us parables for us to discern and reflect on its meaning. We may not understand it at first but if we will be persistent and ask the grace of the Holy Spirit we will be able to discover the hidden treasure that lies beneath these parables.

If we will take these parables seriously we will be like the rich soil that bears much fruit that will nourish not only us but also those who know us.

January 29: Thursday Mark 4:21-25

Jesus gives us a parable about a lamp that needs to be put on a lampstand so that it will give light to its environment. He also tells us that there is no hidden secret that will not be discovered.

Our knowledge about our faith no matter how limited should be like a light on a lampstand we must always share it with humility so that it can enlighten those who are within our sphere of environment.

On the otherhand, it has been proven time and again that there is no secret that will be hidden forever, even on our death or deathbed deep secrets will still unravel itself. Think of a dying husband who suddenly is being claimed to be the husband of a lady completely unknown to the legal wife.

We aught to hear and learn from the message of Jesus on these parables.
