Gospel Reflection

January 24, Saturday: Mark 3:20-21

I wonder why Jesus’ relatives said that He was out of His mind. What were they thinking of Him? Maybe they were also like the scribes who thought that Jesus’ power emanates from the devil itself. Or they were just envious of His sudden popularity among the masses.

What led the scribes to think that Jesus’ power comes from the devil was the envy in their hearts. What lead His relatives to say that: “He was out of His mind.” was also their jealousy for Jesus’ fame.

These envy and hatred eventually led to Jesus’ death on the cross.

Envy, jealousy and hatred are evil feelings in itself we must be wary of it.
