The new korean 5 boys group FTIsland will start in August their parallel activities in Japan.

New, 5-member group FT Island will begin their full-scale advance into the Korean and Japanese pop scenes in August.

The brand new group has already created a buzz here in the local music world and through the power of the Korean Wave, they are also gaining recognition in Japan and even South East Asia. Some already die-hard Thai fans are even known to have traveled to Korea to attend the group’s events and concerts.

FT Island’s debut album, “Cheerful Sensibility,” as well as their first single, “사랑앓이/Love Sick,” have garnered a great response from local and foreign Kpop fans. SG Wannabe, SeeYa, FTIsland and T-Yoon Mi Rae meets for a good cause!

SG Wannabe, SeeYa, FTIsland e T-Yoon Mi Rae had made a previously meeting to promote the 'Summer Big4 Concert''s objectives!


In the last July 4th the artists that will present performances at the 'Summer Big4 Concert' had meeting in a charity event to collect donations, and the artists had donated personal stuffs, musical instruments and merchan stuffs than these stuffs had been buyieds in exchange for concert tickets that has a capacity for 500 places and the collected donations with the buy of this 500 tickets will be delivers to charity institutions who take care of almost 1000 needy children.

At the next July 9th the korean artists SG Wannabe, SeeYa, FTIsland and T-Yoon Mi Rae will together do a special visit at one of the SOS Seoul institutions to give the donations results from them donated stuffs, this visit will be in a middle-school at the lunch time to not bottering the children school schedule.

The personally delivery at the SOS Seoul chatity institutions it's a tradition from the Big4 Concert and every year the Big4 Concert's artists made visits at that intituitions with many needy children.

In 2005 the donations has been gived all by the event's managers and organizators at one of the SOS Seoul institutions, a nursley school(?), in a Korea south city, the donations has been helped many needy children. In 2006 the SG Wannabe boys had been for a city side to deliver the donations at a CJ camp institution and at the other city side the SeeYa girls had been present at a SOS Seoul institution giving the donations and mading many needy children very happy with them visit.

In the last July 4th the donated artists stuffs' buy had been very good for the donations as the SeeYa's LGT line cell-phone who recorded at the buys helping almost 30 institutions. The SG Wannabe Kim's jacket had take the second position (25 institutions), the FTIsland fan stuffs had left them in the third position (22 institutions), the SG Wannabe digital clock + the SeeYa eyeglasses promotional poster + the artists sign special bags (20 institutions), the SG Wannabe 3 CDs package (18 institutions), the T-Yoon Mi Rae CD + LP players (17 institutions with something around 10.500 Won), all the collected money with the artists stuffs for them fans will be deliver to charity institutions that take care of needy children.

[070707] "This year's New Artist Award is Ours", Interview with FT Island

There is a rock band that plays instruments and sings while boasting their charisma on stage. But if you look closely, their faces are very young. Whats more? They are hot! It's no wonder we cant help but stare. We've seen alot of teenage dance groups and teenage ballad singers but teenage rockband like them is a rare case.

Perhaps its because they appeared on Mnet's "Wanna be my boyfriend?" last march and got themselves familiarized with the fans that they are already named "top star" among teens. Their huge popularity has gathered up 5000 fans at their recently held fan signing event. The media is already shadowing their every unpredictable moves.

We met with the dreamy FT Island that doesnt seem like teens when talking about music related passions and concerns but are obviously young middle and high schoolers who laugh about betting $1 in order to avoid going to the pool at dawn.

Following is the interview with FT Island.

- The media is already expecting alot of you. Dont you feel overwhelmed?

* (Lee Jaejin) We want to fulfill those expectations but we have much flaws since its our first time. We feel nervous and sorry at the same time because they overestimate us. So when we our schedules are empty we practice on our own.

- Why did you name your band "Five Treasure Island?"

* (Lee Hongki) The name reveals that we want to be like treasures to the fans and be cherished for our talents and music.

- It is unusual to have debuted with music instead of dance at young age.

* We didnt gather to dance so we never even attempted it. We dont want to dance either. We rather practice our instruments more if we have time to dance.

- How does "Buzz the 2nd" sound to you?

* We are thankful and honored. But we want to become a group with our own definite color.

- It seems alright to have debuted once you've become adults.

* Although we have flaws right now but our possibility for improvement is inifinite. We'll definitely improve releasing 2nd and 3rd album. Thats why we think its better to start early. For the sake of our dream we decided to accept the regrets we feel about not being able to enjoy normal highschool experience.

- Please tell us about the title song 'Love Sick'

* (Lee Jaejin) It is composed by Ryu Jae Hyun of Vibe and is a sad and lachrymose song that its sweet melody played on piano warms one's heart. Addition of Hongki's vocal and Wonbin's rap to this gives out dramatic impressions.

- What is special about the first album?

* I can be called the pre - stage for expressing our color. Publicized band music is emphasized. We want to do various kinds of songs. We'll show the improving us.

- Between the publicized rock and experimental rock, to which direction are you heading?

* Among the songs in our album, we prefer fresh and experimental rock style like 'FT Island.' But people tend to avoid bands so we tried dividing our album into two categories, publicized style and experimental rock, in order to approach the public.

- Do you feel confident about your skills when compared to other rock groups?

* We think we'll show as much as we practice. We practiced really hard so we want to be evaluated based on that. We hope that they'd come to our concert and feel our musical talents.

- While living with 5 men, any disagreements?

* We've been living together since 2005 for s years. At first we missed our mom and wanted to hang out with our friends. But by losing some we gain some so its ok now. We also found amusement in doing music. Living together with other members was a little difficult at first because of our different personalities but we get along well now.

- Any plans other than in music?

* We are a group formed because we like music and we still have a lot to work on musically. We only want to perform music. Even when we become skilled musicians, we think we'll still prefer music. For now we want to be all for music.

- Child-star Lee Hongki's decision to become a singer:

* I starred in KBS Children's Drama "Magic Kid Masuri" and MBC "Bingjum" when I was in 5th grade. When I sang at the after party for the last episode of EBS Children's drama "Ggangsooni," everyone complimented me on my singing. I was very intrested in music to begin with. So I think I got the feel right then and there (laughs)


- Ideal girl?

* (Lee Hongki) I like innocent and cute style like Song Hye Gyo.
(Oh Wonbin) I find stlyes like Jun Jihyun in the movie 'My Sassy girl' attractive.
(Lee Jaejin) Im Soo Jung's character in the movie "Sad Ruby" appeals to me.
(Choi Jonghun) Someone eloquent like Han Yeasel.
(Choi Minhwan) Someone cute like Han Hyo Ju.

- Any rivalry among members?

* (Oh Wonbin) I originally joined the team as a vocal but due to my overflowing greed I ended up playing guitar, singing, rapping and even playing the harmonica. I started late so I feel I'm behind everyone. I'm practicing hard daily.
(Lee Jaejin) I'm jealous of Minhwan. Despite he is younger than me he is alot stronger (laughs). I envy how when he decides to achieve somehting, he sticks to it like a practice - worm until he fulfils it.

- Future Plans

*Since we are a band we want to have alot of concerts. We dont feel confident about game programs because honestly we are not goot at speaking and its more fun to watch them for now.

- This year's goal

*We want to be ranked #1 in all the charts. We want to spread our music to many more poeple and definitely win this year's 'new artist award.'

[070708] 90's & 2000's Hotties together on Stage, FT Island + Shimsin on Power Stage

1990's hottie singer Shimsin and 2000's handsome group FT Island presented a fantastic stage together and drove the fans wild.

Shimsin and FT Island performed Shimsin's 1991's hit song 'You, the only one" on MBC Show! Music Core and received endless applause.

Shimsin, who was extremely popular in the 1990s and led the 'oppa troup,' performed together with this year's hot topic FT Island.

FT Island's vocal Lee Hongki, with a powerful vocalism that almost parallels that of Shimsin's, stood shoulder to shoulder with his idol. Hongki and Shimsin brought back the 90s onto the stage by dancing the classic double gun dance.

Shimsin, who appeared charismatic with his shades, was also praised for his amazing vocalism that hasnt changed from 16 years ago.

FT Island's other members illuminated the stage even more with their live performance of drums and bass.

When the song ended Hongki and Shimsin closed the stage with exchange of warm hugs.

Shimsin expressed his joy that the performance "brought back memories." Hongki confessed "when I was a baby my parents were Shimsin fans so I listened to your music growing up" and flattered the singer.

Meanwhile audience members like Hwanhee, Bryan and Clazziquai could not close their mouth in awe and sent their applause.

The five pretty boys of the band in the 10's, FT Island, expressed their feelings on performing with their superior, Shin Seung Hoon.

FT Island said, "Simply standing on the same stage as Shin Seung Hoon is enough to get my heart to skip a beat. I feel like I'm dreaming," on hearing the news that FT Island would be performing with Shin Seung Hoon on the 22nd in the Seoul Olympic stadium for the 'Summer Big4' Concert.

FT Island has just debuted 2 months earlier as a new rock band and to be performing on the same stage with someone like Shin Seung Hoon, who has been a singer for 18 years, is a great honor. Furthermore, FT Island said, "Since this is our first concert since our debut and a concert with many superiors, we will work hard and prepare to make this a delightful concert."
