2009 April 4-5 Opening Weekend Roundup: Lotte vs. The Heroes

4/4 - Lotte 3, The Heroes 2
4/5 - The Heroes 10, Lotte 1

On Saturday, with Lotte behind 2-1 in the 7th inning and one out, Kang Min-ho hit a solo homer into the seats in left field to tie the game at 2. Next, Son Ah-seob hit a seeing-eye single up the middle to put the go ahead run on first with 1 out. Lee Seung-hwa came in as a pinch runner for Son. Park Ki-hyuk sacrificed Lee over to second. Lee Dong-hak came in to relieve Heroes ace, Ma Il-yeong. Lotte's Kim Joo-chan hit a fly ball to left that the left fielder appeared to lose in the sun. The poor kid was running all over the place. He looked like Rob Mackowiak playing centerfield for this team. It was painful to watch. In the end, Kim was standing on 2nd with a double and Lee had raced across home plate for the go ahead run. Jon Adkins tossed a 1-2-3 9th to nail down the W.

On Sunday, The Heroes knocked around Lotte pitching all day. Cliff Brumbaugh finished 3-5 with a homer, 2 runs scored and 6(!) RBI. Heroes starter, Kim Soo-kyeong was able to cruise to an easy W. Kim tossed 7 innings(86 pitches, 52 strikes) of 1 run ball. He allowed 5 hits and 1 walk with 2 K's.
